Location
Wichita, KS
Ardent Mills partnered with Interstates to modernize the electrical infrastructure at their grain terminal facility in Wichita, Kansas—replacing aging equipment and improving overall system reliability and safety for both personnel and operations. Through a phased approach, the project establishes a new electrical room and installs ethernet-enabled MCCs while automating motors across the facility, allowing each portion of the plant to transition without disrupting ongoing production. Once complete, the upgrades will deliver a fully automated system that not only improves operational efficiency but also simplifies plant operations as workforce transitions occur.

Key Scope Components
Phased Power Distribution Upgrades:
Installed new MCCs and MDPs while analyzing facility loading and existing 480V–120V distribution to strategically replace or refeed panels in a way that improved capacity, aligned with client preferences, and maintained budget considerations.
Operationally Focused Phasing:
The project was planned around the facility’s equipment and processes, grouping equipment by phase so upgraded areas could run with new automation while the rest of the plant continued operating in its existing configuration. Phase 2 included a planned four-day shutdown to cut over about 30 motors and 50 devices.
Prefabrication & Digital Coordination:
Utilized prefabricated conduit assemblies, VDC coordination, and Matterport site scans to improve installation efficiency, enhance client collaboration, support estimating and planning, and streamline field execution.
