The Interstates team was recognized with two awards at the Associated Builders and Contractors Nebraska / South Dakota Excellence in Construction Awards Gala on April 18. We received the Eagle Award in the Specialty Contractor – Electrical (all projects over $10 million) – Industrial All Projects over $10 million category for our work at the Dollar General distribution facility in Blair, NE, the highest award in this category. Additionally, this project earned the esteemed Project of the Year award. This project achieved the highest score in the competition, showcasing our excellence and leadership in the construction industry.

Britton Hulme, Senior Project Manager of the Dollar General project shares, “These awards are a testament to the hard work and dedication of the entire project team. We collaborated well with our project partners by solving issues up front, keeping changes straight, providing quality work, and staffing our projects to meet the client’s deadline.”

About the Project

Dollar General sought to build a distribution facility in Blair, NE, to support more than 1,500 Dollar General stores in the Midwest with dry and fresh goods. Interstates provided design-build solutions on this project, featuring innovative 3D modeling solutions, fluid scheduling, and prefabrication to save time and money. The design-build process benefited this project immensely. Instead of consulting several different contractors or engineering firms to update plans and find answers, the client had Interstates as one source for solutions and guidance. This saved money, protected the project schedule, and avoided costly rework.

With safety being an important factor for the owner and contractors on-site, we are proud to have been part of this project that went the entire project, which was approximately 500,000 hours over 1000 days, without a recordable injury. Despite various delays and supply chain setbacks, Interstates displayed flexibility and resourcefulness to meet Dollar General’s goals and set them up to receive product on schedule.
