What a year it's been for us at Interstates! As we gathered with others at the 2024 ABC Convention in sunny Kissimmee, Florida, the Interstates team and fellow attendees were excited with anticipation at the annual ABC National Excellence in Construction Awards banquet. We weren't just attendees; we were participants in a celebration of the industry's finest.
Our efforts, driven by a relentless pursuit of excellence, innovation, and a commitment to our community, were recognized on a national platform. We're beyond proud to share that we brought home not one but three prestigious awards from the banquet.
Excellence in Every Wire: Our Pyramid Award Win
Our first accolade, the Excellence in Construction awards, recognizes 91 of the nation’s top construction projects, where we received the Pyramid Award in the Electrical: Industrial - $2 – 10 million category. This recognition wasn't just for us; it was a testament to the trust our clients place in us and the hard work of every team member.
Our project, a state-of-the-art cattle feed facility in Texas, stood as a pinnacle of industry-leading, safe, and innovative construction projects. In this project, our team came together to deliver a full design-build project—with electrical construction and design. Even with long lead times, our client was up in running in the new facility in 2022. “This exemplary project is the pinnacle of quality, safety, and innovation in our industry, showcasing the incredible structures and team at Interstates that build the best of the best in merit shop construction,” said 2024 National Chair of the ABC Board of Directors Buddy Henley, president of Henley Construction Co. Inc. This award isn't just a trophy on our shelf; it's a reminder of what we can achieve when we work together towards a common goal.
A Beacon of Safety: The Pinnacle Award
Safety is in our DNA; it's not just a protocol, it's our way of life. Receiving the Pinnacle Award for safety along with 45 other contractors nationwide was a moment of immense pride for us. This award, reflecting our 2022 safety performance and Diamond status in ABC’s STEP Safety Management System, was a result of our unwavering commitment to creating a safe working environment for everyone. It's an honor that validates our efforts and encourages us to set even higher standards for ourselves and the industry.
Championing Diversity: The Inclusion, Diversity, and Merit Excellence Award
The third feather in our cap was the National Inclusion, Diversity, and Merit Excellence Award, the first year this was awarded. Henley commented, “Career opportunities should be created and made available to all Americans, and Interstates is an award-winning IDM leader in construction that champions this ethos at their company where individuals are limited only by their own potential and desire.” We believe our success lies in our people, and building a culture of inclusion and diversity enhances who we are.
Winning in the subcontractor category, this award recognized our efforts to foster an inclusive environment where everyone has the opportunity to grow and succeed. Henley added, “IDM is an empowering competitive advantage, and ABC is honored to recognize Interstates, which continually prioritizes these valuable components to any vibrant culture.” It reflects our belief that a diverse workforce is not just an asset but a necessity for innovation and excellence.
