Utah Flour Mill Project

Project Specifications

Industry
Flour Mill

Completion Date
2025

Location
Richmond, UT
Interstates successfully delivered a fully integrated electrical and automation solution for a new flour mill in Richmond, UT, using its Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) model. The project, which supplies flour to a major snack food producer, featured innovative approaches including an all-steel structure and extensive underground conduit work to improve efficiency and reduce timeline constraints. Close collaboration with general contractor Bratney and strategic use of BIM, prefab, and embedded conduit helped streamline construction, reduce costs, and maintain project momentum despite weather and holiday challenges.

Key Scope Components
Electrical Design and Automation Integration:
Interstates was responsible for designing and automating the electrical systems for the new mill, ensuring seamless operation and integration with an adjacent food processing facility.
Extensive Underground Electrical Installation:
The team executed a complex underground conduit layout, precisely positioning 76 stub-ups for the roll stands on the first floor, a rare and technically demanding feature for this flour mill.
Use of BIM and Prefabrication for Efficiency:
Interstates used Building Information Modeling (BIM) for conduit routing and space optimization, and prefabricated components off-site to streamline fieldwork and accelerate project delivery.
