Independent Electrical Contractors – Rocky Mountain Award

Industrial Project of the Year Award

We are thrilled to announce that we have been honored with an award for the Independent Electrical Contractors – Rocky Mountain Industrial Project of the Year (<$500k) for the Soldier Canyon Micro-Hydro Project! A big congratulations to the project team and our support team for their invaluable work that makes these kinds of awards possible.

Project Summary

The Micro-Hydro project allowed the Owner to capture valuable Xcel energy savings by harnessing energy from the rushing flow of water from Horsetooth Reservoir. The flow of water turns a large turbine, generating electricity and providing valuable energy rebates while lessening peak energy demands for the utility.

The project involved refeeding the existing service, extensive coordination with Xcel, controls for the hydropower skid, and a rapid delivery schedule complicated by an intricate excavation process around the existing Water Treatment Plant’s piping.  Interstates was able to complete the project on-time and without any change orders.

The energy savings not only delivers great value to the owner and their community, but also the larger environment by conserving energy.
