Interstates Sponsors Electrical Division of Region 4 ASC Competition

Region 4 ASC Competition in Nebraska City

As part of our effort to give back to the programs that provide us with excellent Construction Management hires, we recently participated in the Region 4 ASC Competition in Nebraska City. The purpose of this competition is to develop and advance construction education by providing students with the opportunity to gain real-world experience. Students from Construction Management schools throughout the Midwest are put into teams and choose which division they wanted to compete in: Commercial, Design-Build, Heavy Highway, or Specialty.

Each year, the specialty division rotates between mechanical and electrical. We were thrilled to sponsor the electrical division this year. Interstates representatives consisted of Doug Schrader, Ryan Davis, Austin Britt, Jordan Thomas, Jose Figueroa, and Denielle Etrheim. The Interstates team proposed a replacement cold storage warehouse to an existing food processing facility as the statement for the student teams. Students received their problem statement at 6:30 am. They then had until 11:59 PM to turn in their package.

The following day, students presented their solutions and ended with a 15 minute Q&A session. Presentations and solution packages were to include the following:

  • Project Proposal (broken down as defined in RFP)
  • Resource Loaded Electrical Schedule
  • Schedule of Values Projection
  • Narrative Describing the Project Approach

These types of events are an excellent way for us to connect with Construction Management students and faculty, and our employees are always happy to participate. We look forward to more of these events in the future.
