We’ve proudly achieved Accredited Quality Contractor (AQC) status from Associated Builders and Contractor, a national construction industry trade association. Along with other AQC members, we set a standard in the construction industry by being high performing, ethical contractors in our communities. Launched in 1993, ABC’s AQC program provides recognition to world-class construction firms that have documented their commitment in five areas of corporate responsibility:
- Quality
- Safety (ABC STEP Gold, Platinum or Diamond level required)
- Talent management
- Craft and management education
- Community relations and diversity
How do we meet these requirements? Kent Heronimus, Recruiting Manager at Interstates, explains that our employees make it possible. “As an employee at Interstates, you may often hear us say ‘the most impressive thing we’ve built is our team.’ We strongly believe that our people are our greatest resource, and the results we deliver wouldn’t be possible without them.” We focus on their professional development, through different training and leadership opportunities, and help them build their career.
Another way we meet these requirements is by emphasizing a zero-injury culture. By holding safety meetings each morning, offering safety education, and encouraging the importance of safety, we’ve created a safety culture at Interstates. We treat each other like family, and that means keeping each other free from injury on the job site.
