A Successful Project in Newton, Kansas

Have you heard of Newton, Kansas? It’s located 25 miles north of Wichita in the heart of the country. We recently worked with a company in the area that needed a number of electric room upgrades. Additionally, they planned to eliminate their 5kV service and associated equipment, and install a new 15kV service. This particular site required some major work to make it electrically functional. The project had 4 key parts:

  • Upgrade existing 5kV switches to 15kV
  • Replace 2nd Floor MCC Room. Replace existing line shaft MCCs
  • Replace 3rd Floor MCC Room. Gut and Replace all MCCs with new MCCs
  • Refeed 7th Floor and Elevator MCC

Our on-site field leader, Andrew, did a great job leading this project. He managed most of the planning and coordination of this project, with the assistance of the Construction Project Manager, Randy. Check out the white board photo below – that extraordinary masterpiece was the brainchild of Randy! Seriously though, it really helped drive upcoming work including helping plan shutdowns around the busy harvest season in Newton. The project was a success thanks to hard work and a great partnerships. We’re excited to see what the future brings as we continue to grow in the Kansas area!
